SkyVoice Privacy Policy
SkyVoice ("we", "us", or "our") provides short aviation-style announcements for your drive. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Data Controller: SkyVoice is an independent application. Its developer acts as the data controller responsible for the personal data processed through the app and can be reached at qabohdanov@gmail.com.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may process the following categories of information:
- Device and app information: device model, operating system, app version, subscription state, and diagnostic data.
- Location information: precise or approximate location, if you allow location access, to personalize announcements and weather context.
- Calendar information: upcoming event titles, times, locations, and related metadata, if you allow calendar access.
- Voice and text prompts: the text you enter, custom rules, passenger names, and voice generation inputs used to create announcements.
- Audio outputs: generated announcement audio and related playback state.
- Purchase and subscription information: subscription status, product selection, and transaction state processed through Apple and RevenueCat.
- Support communications: information you send us by email or through support channels.
- On-device usage counters: a count of how many free announcements you have used and which captain samples you have tried, stored in your device's Keychain so the free allowance survives reinstalling the app. It contains no identity information and never leaves your device.
2. How We Use Information
- To generate and play announcements.
- To personalize announcements based on your settings, location, calendar, and weather context.
- To manage subscriptions and restore purchases.
- To provide customer support and troubleshoot issues.
- To improve app reliability, security, and performance.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal data. We may share or transmit limited data to service providers that help us operate the app:
- Apple: for App Store purchases, subscriptions, and system services such as notifications and permissions.
- RevenueCat: for subscription and entitlement management.
- Cloudflare: for backend proxying and hosting of legal pages.
- Google Gemini: for AI text and voice generation when you request an announcement, and to look up public holidays for your country when that module is enabled.
- OpenWeather: to look up the current weather for your approximate coordinates when the weather module is enabled.
Data sent to our AI provider to generate an announcement (such as location, time, weather, and any calendar or personal context you enable) is processed transiently to produce that announcement. We do not use your personal data to train AI models.
4. Legal Basis For Processing
If you are in the EEA, UK, or another region with similar privacy laws, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Your consent for optional permissions such as location and calendar access.
- Performance of a contract to provide the app and paid features.
- Legitimate interests to secure, improve, and maintain the app.
- Legal obligations where we must retain or disclose data under law.
5. Data Retention
We keep information only as long as needed to provide the app, support your account or subscription, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Much of the content you create stays on your device unless you choose to share it, export it, or send it to us for support.
6. Your Choices
- You can disable location or calendar permissions in iOS settings.
- You can delete local app data by clearing the app or using in-app reset options.
- You can manage subscriptions through Apple.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live (including the EEA and the UK), you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request deletion of your data (the "right to erasure");
- request restriction of, or object to, certain processing;
- receive a copy of your data in a portable, machine-readable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
To exercise these rights, contact us at qabohdanov@gmail.com. If you are in the EEA or the UK and believe your rights have been violated, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
8. International Transfers
SkyVoice is available worldwide. Your information may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States and other jurisdictions where our providers operate.
9. Children
SkyVoice is rated 12+ and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
